As a scrollsaw artist, over the years I have amassed literally thousands of patterns.  I doing so, I have not been as organized as I should have been when deciding where to store them on my computer.  Had I done so, it would still be difficult, at best, to remember the pattern name, what it looked like, and who designed it.

I searched and searched for a program designed for scrolling that did it all.  Organizing, viewing, re-sizing, and printing.  It did not exist.  In the real world, I am a software quality assurance analyst and have been designing and testing software for 10 years.   I decided to design a software package that is first and foremost simple to use and had all the functions I wanted.

Pattern Director is feature rich.  It has everything a scroller would want.

Add Patterns - All you have to do is browse out to a folder, select the pattern(s) you want to include.  At this time you can assign them a category/subcategory and assign them a designer if you wish and hit okay.

Add Category or Subcategory - While Pattern Director comes loaded with a list of categories and subcategories, you can easily add your own.

Add Designer - It is always good to know who designed a pattern.  All you have to do is open up this form and add the designer info

Thumbnails - If you are like me, you probably have numerous patterns with similar names.  I can’t always remember what a pattern looks like.  I hate having to open four or five patterns just to find one.  Pattern Director lists all pertinent information for each pattern into a “grid”.  The last column in the grid is a thumbnail of the pattern. Therefore you can visually view all the patterns at the same time.

Pattern Viewer - To open the Pattern Viewer, all you have to do is click on the thumbnail and that pattern will open in a pop-up window.

Crop-Resize - Once you have opened a pattern in the Pattern Viewer, you have the option to crop and/or resize the pattern

Print - Pattern Director has its own built in print engine.  No more finding a pattern, opening it in another program just to print it.
